Founded by the prominent Chinese publisher Zou Taofen in Shanghai, July 1932, Life Bookstore was famous in the 1930s for publishing pioneering books and periodicals, advocating advanced ideas and theories. It became a part of the SDX Joint Publishing in the 1940s, and was formally resumed in July 2013 as Life Bookstore Publishing, a subsidiary company of SDX Joint Publishing Co., Ltd.

Life Bookstore carries memories across generations of readers and writers through the deep personal and emotional bond, and it is now continuing its journey with an expanded publishing list includes a wide range, from our traditionally focused popular social science writings, to best-selling fictions and popular non-fictions. Authors published by Life Bookstore include Wang Meng, Feng Jicai, Tie Ning and Wu Jinglian.
