Huang Zhijian Meets with Hichem Messaoudi, Director of the Higher Institute of Languages of Tunis, University of Carthage

On July 24, 2025, Huang Zhijian, Chairman of China Publishing Group Co., Ltd., met with Hichem Messaoudi, Director of the Higher Institute of Languages of Tunis, University of Carthage, at the China International Exchange Center for Publishers. The two sides exchanged their ideas on sharing book resources, fostering academic cooperation, and developing Chinese language textbooks. Zhang Jichen,  Vice President of China Publishing & Media Co., Ltd., attended the meeting.

Huang Zhijian welcomed Hichem Messaoudi to China and fondly recalled joining Tunisian President Kais Saied at the Tunis International Book Fair with China as the guest of honor this past April. Huang stated that China Publishing Group Co., Ltd. attaches great importance to internationalization, with an annual output of about 1,000 copyrights each year. He noted that the Group will continue to support Chinese language teaching and cultural research at the Higher Institute of Languages of Tunis at the University of Carthage, strengthen cooperation with Tunisian academia and publishing sector, and contribute to deepening China-Tunisia friendship through publishing initiatives.

Director Hichem Messaoudi outlined the development of the Higher Institute of Languages of Tunis at the University of Carthage. He thanked China Publishing Group Co., Ltd. for its warm hospitality and highly praised the development of the China International Exchange Center for Publishers, expressing the hope for continued support from the Group. During his visit, Hichem Messaoudi also toured the thematic exhibition “The Civilizational Contributions of Chinese Publishing” at the China International Exchange Center for Publishers, as well as the collection room of People’s Literature Publishing House. He expressed appreciation for the pivotal role played by the Group’s publishing houses in the development of modern China’s publishing industry.

The Higher Institute of Languages of Tunis at the University of Carthage has a long history and enjoys a high reputation in language teaching and research. It is one of the few universities in Tunisia authorized to offer bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in Chinese language and literature.
