The book is written by Chen Shangjun, a senior professor at Fudan University. It has a total of 30 articles involving more than 50 poets. Among them, each of the first 25 is contributed to the life of one poet or a story of a famous poet; while each of the last 5 is devoted to several poets, covering a family of poets, poets as prime minister, poet couples, and so on. The author vividly and comprehensively outlines the life of poets in the Tang Dynasty, introducing their life courses and achievements, and interpreting their works based on the poets’ experience.
