The author of the book Huang Rong, who had been a police officer and founded a non-profit organization for her fellow police officers, wrote the book based on interviews with various roles in the police force including criminal police, traffic police and anti-narcotics police, and even police dogs are put under the spotlight. The book is an objective, honest presentation of the lives of the ordinary police officers in China, their contribution to safeguarding the country and the society, their heroism, and their selfless dedication in their everyday work. The book is named after the most influential story in the whole collection titled “The Past of Nehe”.
