On June 17, 2026, during the 32nd Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF), China Publishing Group hosted the “Pages That Connect the World”–Exchange Event Featuring Special Book Award of China Laureates, Writers, and Publishers in Beijing. Group Chairman Wen Hongwu met with 12 laureates who toured the Group’s exhibition area at BIBF and extended warm congratulations on their awards. The Group looks forward to deepening cooperation with all participants to jointly promote mutual learning among civilizations. The laureates later visited the China International Exchange Center for Publishers to take part in a roundtable discussion, sharing their experiences and insights in translating, publishing, and promoting Chinese books under the theme “My Story with Chinese Books”. Zang Yongqing, Vice President of China Publishing & Media Holdings Co., Ltd., attended and delivered a speech. Beijing Writers’ Association Chairperson Li Er, Beijing Writers’ Association Vice Chairperson Qiao Ye, Beijing Writers’ Association Vice Chairperson Shi Yifeng, along with young writers Di An and Zhang Tianyi, engaged in in-depth discussions with the laureates on topics including Chinese literary publishing and overseas promotion. The laureate delegation also visited People’s Literature Publishing House and the exhibition “Chinese Publishing in the Perspective of Human Civilization.”

Participants noted that publishing serves as a bridge connecting different cultures, languages, and writing systems, facilitating communication, mutual understanding, and learning. It is a vital vehicle for the preservation and dissemination of civilizations, and a significant force in promoting people-to-people exchanges and mutual trust. China Publishing Group brings together the country’s finest writers and scholars and, through extensive collaboration with world-class publishing houses, sinologists, and translators, has consistently and effectively integrated Chinese stories into the international mainstream reading ecosystem, earning growing recognition overseas.

Participants also observed that the successful practices of overseas sinologists and translators—particularly the laureates of the Special Book Award of China—have provided valuable reference for the Group’s international development and localized presence. Chinese writers can join hands with overseas translators and sinologists to leverage the Group’s publishing and distribution channels, actively explore genre literature suited to overseas markets, and focus on expanding into Asian markets as well as English, Spanish, Italian, French, Arabic, Turkish, and other language markets. Through books as a medium for friendship and enhanced exchanges, they can broadly promote the overseas reach of outstanding works in literature, art, comics, and other fields.

In recent years, China Publishing Group has exported an average of approximately 1,000 copyrights annually. A number of outstanding publications—such as The Choice (Russian edition), Old Kiln (English edition), My Sister’s Red Shirt (English edition), and Falsksång (Swedish edition)—have showcased the new heights of contemporary Chinese literary creation to overseas readers. Among the top 100 Chinese mainland publishers in the rankings of titles collected by overseas libraries, the Group’s publishing subsidiaries accounted for 8.5 percent of the national total, forming a Chinese publishing brand cluster with international influence.
