
On April 24, 2026, China Publishing Group held the National Reading and Sharing Conference at Guanghua Hall of the China International Exchange Center for Publishers. The event, themed “Reading Illuminates Life,” brought together prominent figures from the fields of culture, the arts, sports, science and technology, as well as representatives of new forms of literature and art for the general public and college students. Through books, they shared their thoughts on reading, offering readers an enriching literary and cultural experience.

The event featured People’s Artist, renowned writer, and Mao Dun Literature Prize winner Wang Meng; Chinese Academy of Sciences academician Liu Jiaqi, known as “Volcano Grandfather”; Wang Yusheng, Doctor of Science, professor, and doctoral supervisor of Chinese Academy of Sciences, researcher and former director and Party secretary of the China Science and Technology Museum; renowned writers and Mao Dun Literature Prize winners Liang Xiaosheng and Zhou Daxin; Han Yuhai, professor in the Department of Chinese Language and Literature and deputy director of the Institute for Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era at Peking University; Li Er, chairman of the Beijing Writers’ Association, professor at the Peking University Institute for Literature and Creative Writing, and Mao Dun Literature Prize winner; Wang Hongwei, president of Tianjin Conservatory of Music and renowned singer; Zhu Yong, renowned writer and research librarian at the Palace Museum; Dong Zhe, scriptwriter of Swords into Plowshares and writer; Mao Kui, General Manager of Reading Services, Huawei Consumer Cloud Service; Ma Huijuan, a deputy to the 14th National People’s Congress and a national “Rural Reading Role Model”; Liu Shili, a reading promoter known as the “book-loving construction worker”; Dong Lina, China’s first visually impaired master’s graduate in broadcasting and a young reciter; Qin Haiyang, Chinese swimmer and Paris 2024 Olympic champion in the Men’s 4×100m Medley Relay; Li Jiaman, Chinese archer and Paris 2024 Olympic silver medalist in the women’s recurve team event, as well as 2024 Archery World Cup Final champion; and Liu Mengting, Chinese freestyle skier and 2024–25 FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup Women’s Big Air champion at Klagenfurt; and Shang Yue, first-prize winner of China Publishing Group’s Second College Student Reading and Sharing Event. Officials from the Publishing Bureau of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong S.A.R., Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, and other departments and organizations also attended the event.
