From November 13 to 17, 2025, the 2025 South China Book Festival and the 7th Shenzhen Book Fair were held in Shenzhen under the annual theme “Bay Area of Books, Reading the World, Sharing the Future.” Zang Yongqing, Vice President of China Publishing & Media Holdings Co., Ltd., and Su Rongcai, Deputy Head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee and Director of the Administration of Press and Publication, attended the opening ceremony.

China Publishing Group presented nearly 2,000 high-quality titles, with more than 80,000 copies available for sale, spanning the humanities and social sciences, literature and the arts, children’s education, science and technology, business and management, and other fields. The books showcased the high standard of the Chinese publishing industry while catering to readers of different ages and interests. The selection included major publishing projects such as Revitalization Library (I–III), Encyclopedia of China (Third Edition), and the revised and collated editions of the Twenty-Four Histories. The “Humanities Classics Library” brings together classic works from China and around the world in editions designed for today’s readers, combining portability with the enduring value of classic works. The simplified Chinese edition of Outline of National History, an enduring work of general Chinese history that explores the essence of China’s national history and evokes the spirit of the Chinese people, has influenced generations of readers and is now available for the first time in a horizontal format. A Hundred Stories in a Hundred Years of the Palace Museum looks back on the Palace Museum’s 100-year history and the preservation and transmission of Chinese civilization. It recounts efforts to safeguard cultural relics during their wartime relocation, recover lost cultural relics, restore palace buildings, expand public access, and monitor cultural heritage, documenting generations of Palace Museum staff who upheld the spirit of treating cultural relics as their own lives. Under a Collapsing Nest: The Daily Life of a Jiangnan Gentryman During the Ming–Qing Transition depicts the upheaval of the Ming–Qing transition and the joys and sorrows of the Jiangnan gentry. Centered on the metaphor “When the nest is overturned, how can the eggs remain intact?”, the book recounts the Hou family’s tragic resistance to the Qing Dynasty and sacrifice for the Ming Dynasty, while examining how survivors compromised in their daily struggle to survive under harsh conditions. Secret Struggle: A Scholar’s Cultural Resistance, winner of the Annual Top Ten Good Books, Readers’ Award, and Judges’ Award at the 26th Shenzhen Reading Month, is a gripping account of cultural resistance during the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. Drawing on previously undisclosed archival materials, it reconstructs the intense struggle between Chinese and Japanese scholars over China’s national treasures and portrays the commitment of a scholar who sought to serve his country through his writing in its darkest hour.
