Han Meilin

Han Meilin, born in Jinan, Shandong Province in 1936, entered the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1955. After departmental adjustments in 1956, he was among the first group of students at the newly formed Central Academy of Arts & Design. He later became one of the earliest senior professors of liberal arts at Tsinghua University. He is currently serving as a member of the Central Research Institute of Culture and History, Honorary Director of the Chinese Artists Association's Ceramic Art Committee, Vice President of the United World Chinese Association, and Honorary President of the China National Arts & Crafts Society.

As a versatile artist, Han Meilin has made a remarkable impact across various art fields, including painting, calligraphy, sculpture, design, and public art. He is a passionate advocate for preserving and reinvigorating Chinese cultural traditions, particularly those expressed through ceramics and folk art. His works are known for their grandeur and insightful perspectives. Employing a unique artistic style, Han Meilin's creations powerfully convey his personal vision.

In recent years, Han Meilin has actively promoted art education and international cultural exchange. He established Han Meilin Art Museums in Hangzhou, Beijing, and Yinchuan, and the Han Meilin Pottery Museum in Yixing. He has also created the Han Meilin Art Foundation to support art-related public welfare initiatives. His dedication to the arts has garnered him numerous accolades. In 2015, he was named a UNESCO Artist for Peace. In the following year, he launched the Han Meilin Global Tour, holding solo exhibitions in Venice, Beijing, Paris, Liechtenstein, Seoul, Bangkok, and other cities. He was bestowed with the title of Honorary Academician by the University of Venice in the same year.  In 2018, he received the Pierre de Coubertin medal from the International Olympic Committee and the Order of Cultural Merit from South Korea. In 2019, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the You Bring Charm to the World Awards.
