Zhou Guangren
周广仁

Zhou Guangren, member of the Communist Party of China, is one of the most influential Chinese pianist and educator in the international music scene. He serves as the editor-in-chief of the magazine Piano Artistry, tenured professor and former director at the Piano Department of the Central Conservatory of Music. She was eligible for the special government allowance of the State Council. Winner of National May 1st Labor Medal, Baosteel Outstanding Teacher Award, Beijing Teacher Award, Lifetime Achievement Award of the 7th Chinese Golden Bell Award for Music, and  Honorary President of the Piano Society of the Chinese Musicians Association. Ms. Zhou Guangren passed away peacefully at her home in Beijing at 16:30 on March 7, 2022 at the age of 94.

Ms. Zhou was admired for her noble personality, open- mindedness, and her role in bringing piano pieces composed by Chinese musicians to the world stage. She devoted her life to the pursuit of the highest level of piano artistry as well as theoretical study and practice of piano teaching. Ms. Zhou was an outstanding female musician in China in the 20th century and the “Soul of Chinese Piano Education”.
