Part of the 2023 Chinese National Music Heritage Publishing Project, this book is the first music monograph featuring Daliuzi, a form of Chinese ethnic instrumental music unique to the Tujia nationality in western Hunan. It was included in the national intangible cultural heritage list in 2006. This book summarizes Huang Chuanshun's decades of artistic research and study on Daliuzi, representing the inheritance of theories and techniques of this particular musical form. The book consists of three sections: the first features 17 traditional melodies, serving as exercises for mastering basic performance techniques; the second presents 6 original compositions designed to enhance playing skills and be used for stage performances; the third introduces essential theoretical knowledge, including the origin, name, regional distribution, techniques, basic genres, performance styles, musical structure, and musical imagery of this musical form.
