Introduction
This is a set of science reading materials that promote the spirit of Chinese scientists. It is suitable for primary school students aged 6 to 12, and also for educators such as primary school science teachers and parents of primary school students.
The whole book features a selection of 60 Chinese scientists. Each scientist’s story is divided into five sections: profile, stories from the scientist’s student years, an analysis of the scientist’s spirit, educational insights, and a mini-science class. It combines literary, educational, and popular science elements.
The purpose of this book is to discover the significant events in the scientists’ growth that can inspire the seeds of science to take root in young minds. It aims to cultivate children’s scientific spirit from an early age, stimulate their enthusiasm for scientific research, and turn “thinking like a scientist” into a lifelong good habit. By “squatting down” to tell and view science, interpreting the scientists’ growth experiences from a perspective close to that of young readers, it is more likely to gain the recognition of children and educators, thus achieving an in-depth edifying effect similar to that of the “Lei Feng Spirit”.
