The book Rongbaozhai Painting Collection - Zhang Daqian's Dunhuang Copy is a collection of meticulous and richly colored paintings created by Mr. Zhang Daqian during his visit to Dunhuang, preserved at the Sichuan Museum. These works exhibit a delicate and splendid style, incorporating characteristics of Dunhuang heavy color painting along with some of Zhang Daqian's own artistic temperament. The content of this book holds significant historical and artistic value. Zhang Daqian was the first person to comprehensively organize, copy, study, inherit, and promote Dunhuang art. From 1941 to 1943, Zhang Daqian copied a total of 276 works in Dunhuang. His copies differ from the common practice of restoration and copy of Dunhuang murals, as they incorporate his understanding of the murals and figures. This book does not have political biases and aligns with national policies.
