When the reform and opening up drive started, Chinese piano music composition has entered its most active period since the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949. Thanks to the policy of letting a hundred flowers bloom and a hundred schools of thought contend, the music community has been full of a fresh and free atmosphere. The concept and style of music writing in the new era have undergone changes. Artists are constantly seeking the national character of piano music, and their creative enthusiasm is unprecedented. They have begun comprehensive and extensive creative practices, and a large number of works with various themes have emerged in Chinese piano music composing.
