This book collects nearly 20 piano compositions and one piano concerto composed by Quan Jihao. Among them are the piano suite The Combinations of Long and Short, which was selected as Chinese Music Classics of the 20th Century, as well as works such as Banquet Music, Sounds of Elegance–Piano Melodies, and the piano concerto Musical Drama, which have won awards at international competitions in Shanghai, competitions organized by the Ministry of Culture, and symphony orchestra competitions in Shenzhen. This book features 13 piano works created by the composer in different periods. Pieces like In Character, Dialogue on Stage, Impressions of Pansori, Long and Short Rhythms, Yunnan Folk Tune, Northeastern Sentiments, and Operatic Style are piano works with strong national characteristics, sharing a common thematic thread. The book also includes an introduction to the music works, which provides a comprehensive interpretation of each work’s structure, origin, stylistic features, and performance suggestions, making it an accessible source for readers.
