Introduction
This project, jointly initiated by Chinese Society for Aesthetics and Chinese and Foreign Literary Theory Society, is a comprehensive, multi-volume series on Buddhist art and aesthetics. Under the leadership of editor-in-chief Gao Jianping, renowned aesthetician, President of the International Association for Aesthetics, and head of the Chinese Society for Aesthetics, the series brings together dozens of leading scholars in aesthetics and Buddhist studies. The 14-volume set, divided into sections on Buddhist painting, sculpture, calligraphy, and architecture, systematically outlines the historical and aesthetic value of Buddhist art and culture. Combining historical narrative with in-depth theoretical analysis, this series reveals the Buddhist characteristics, aesthetic implications, and interconnections among various art forms, filling a gap in the field of religious aesthetics in China.
