Introduction

In 1958, farmers Chen Yuli and Li Qingai, along with others, formed the Qiu County Farmer-Cartoonist Group. It was renamed the Frogs Cartoon Workshop in 1983. The workshop has blossomed into a group of over 3,000 rural cartoonists, recognized both in China and beyond. Over the decades, they've crafted over 60,000 cartoons, over 3,000 of which have won awards. Their works have been exhibited more than 2,000 times globally. Titles like The Return of the Spring, Oath of Brotherhood, Changes in Hometown, and Farmhouse Fun showcase their playful approach to themes like social development, current issues, and the beauty of rural life. These talented artists cultivate crops when farming season demands and create art in their spare time, transforming their idyllic surroundings and vibrant experiences into engaging cartoons. This book presents over 200 of their finest works, offering a glimpse into the lives of everyday farmers and the positive impact of relevant policies of the Chinese government, especially those related to agricultural development, rural revitalization, poverty alleviation and building a moderately prosperous society.
