Readers’ Conference

Readers’ Conference initiated by China Publishing Group during The National Book Expo, is a large cultural activity guided by the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the CPC and APPRFT for promoting nationwide reading and the construction of the cultural society.


The purpose of Readers’ Conference is “Readers Come First. Enjoy Reading”. It is guided by the writers, centered on readers, and based on publishing to better stimulate reading enthusiasm in the public.


The first Readers’ Conference is initiated by China Publishing Group on 18th National Book Fair in Zhengzhou in April 2008, which was a hit, and was held successively in Jinan, Chengdu, Harbin and Yinchuan. As far as 2014, Readers’ Conference had been held for 7 sessions. The 8th Readers Conference will be held in Taiyuan in September 2015 during the 25th National Book Trade Fair.


Many celebrities made their presence at previous Readers’ Conferences, including Nobel Prize winners, Yang Zhenning and Mo Yan, famous writers, Wang Meng, Yu Qiuyu, Yu Dan, Ye Yonglie, Chi Zijian, Su Tong, Liang Xiaosheng as well as well-known scholars, media and readers.


On every site of Readers’ Conferences, China Publishing Group would actively perform its social responsibility for charity. It had donated nearly 50 libraries to children’s welfares, schools, communities and mountain areas in poverty and books worth over RMB 5 million.
