He is a professor at Gazi University and an expert on foreign policy between China and Middle East and West Asia. He was once the director of Confucius Institute at Okan University in Turkey.

He acted as the consecutive and simultaneous interpreter during Turkish President Abdullah Gul’s visit to China in 2009; during Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao’s visit to Turkey in 2010; during the visit of Turkish Minister of Economic Affairs to China in 2010; during Chinese Vice-President Xi Jinping's visit to Turkey in 2012; and during Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's visit to China in 2012.

His main works include Live in China, Ottoman Firearms and Ottomans in China during the Kanuni Era, Chinese Language and Grammar, The Country That Time Could Not Defeat: China, and Ottoman Empire Seen from China: Kang You Wei’s Turk Travelogue.
